The Organisation of the School

There are two classes for each year band.  In the Foundation Stage and at Key Stage 1, there are no more than 30 children to a class.
At Key Stage 2, we aim to maintain the same ratio.
In upper Key Stage 2 (years 5 and 6), the children are set across the year bands for English and Mathematics.

The School has four teams of teachers to cater for the changing needs of the children.  Each of the teams has a team leader who closely overviews and co-ordinates the team, to ensure that all the children in the year band receive an appropriate curriculum.

Each teacher gets to know the children and parents in their care and works closely with all concerned.  It is therefore expected that parents will contact the class teacher if there are any concerns or information needed about their child.

If a more senior person is needed, the Unit Leader is the next person to meet.  In both cases please try to arrange to see the staff at the end of the day, as in the mornings they have a class of children who will need their attention.

If it is urgent that you see somebody in school, please go to the Secretary who will find either the Head Teacher or the Deputy Head Teacher. Should you wish to meet with the Head Teacher, contact the Secretary who will arrange a mutually convenient time, as soon as possible.

Organisation of the School Day

Teaching begins promptly at 8.40 a.m. when the children start tasks set out for them. The morning is then broken down into three sessions, usually Literacy and Numeracy are covered in the morning. In the Foundation Stage children are not taught in subjects and follow the early leaning goals.

In the afternoon there are two sessions when a combination of the subjects is taught.  The younger children will often have a break during the afternoon if the weather is suitable.  The children in Key Stage 2 usually work through the two sessions without a break, and leave school at 3.00 p.m.
